Abstract

Introduction: Considering the appreciation of Nursing science, the objective was to understand the perception of Nursing Course students regarding the teaching of the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA-I) diagnoses. Methodology: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The research had as participants 21 students who studied between the 5th and 9th periods of the Nursing course at CAPF/UERN and 20 students who were between the 5th and 10th at FACEP. Data collection was carried out between July and September 2023 through a semi-structured interview, which involved questions about the DE, PE and SAE. Furthermore, the data was analyzed and interpreted using the Content Analysis technique according to Bardin. Results: 4 thematic categories emerged: General Perception, which deals with the student's perception regarding SAE, PE and DE. Teaching Assessment, which concerns students' opinions regarding the teaching of these topics. Teaching Suggestions, which addresses the suggestions that students have about how the content should be approached, which brings the understanding that students have about the book, addressing its main difficulties. The students pointed out the main weaknesses and potentialities surrounding this topic. Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of expanding the literature on DE, that is, discussing, at undergraduate level, other books besides NANDA-I. Conclusion: It is concluded that students understand that it is important to discuss these themes in the course curriculum, but they brought up the need to associate college classes with practices in services.
